Environmental Laboratory Services Metals Section utilizes a PerkinElmer ELAN 9000 ICP-MS Inductively Coupled Plasma - Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS), a PerkinElmer Optima 7000 ICP Inductively Coupled Plasma - Atomic Emission Spectrometry (ICP-AES), and Bacharach Cold Vapor Mercury Analyzers. The ICP-MS provides the same low level detection limits of the older Graphite Furnace Atomic Absorption Spectrometry instruments with the speed of a multi-element ICP system. The ICP-MS provides part-per-trillion detection levels.
